Grapefruit Shea Soap

January 2014 was the last month of Fair Ivy’s Original Subscription—the one that sent three items per month (including one bath product).  This lovely grapefruit shea soap by Whispering Willow was the final of the bath product surprise gifts sent out—and boy was it lovely!  It not only smelled great, but had a wonderful color and came packaged so beautifully!

We really liked the packaging—the wrapping paper felt like papier mache!  And the thin gold ribbon was a lovely touch.

Plus, look at that wonderful ingredient list—so clean!

Grapefruit Shea Soap

Ingredients:
Olive Oil
Distilled Water
Coconut Oil
Palm Oil
Sodium Hydroxide
Grapefruit Essential Oil
Unrefined Shea Butter

We love the logo and Artist’s Info card that came with this Artisan Grapefruit scented soap bar.  The card reads:

“Whispering Willow is a small bath & body company in NC made up of Julia & Wayne — a husband and wife team.  Together we handcraft natural bath & body products using organic oils, essential oils and eco-friendly packaging.  Additionally, we commit 10% of our profits to charity.

Handmade Silver and Gold Disk Earrings

Last month, subscribers to all of our active subscriptions (Jewelry, Duet and Original) received these gorgeous handmade silver and gold disk earrings.  Made by Lustrous Elements in Texas, these earrings were designed specifically for Fair Ivy subscribers. We find them to be the perfect addition to any outfit—be it casual or fancy.

We really liked the packaging these handmade silver and gold disk earrings came in.  It was simple, clean and elegant.

The lovely little note inside states:
Life is a composite of little moments.  It’s the little things that make it sparkle.
We couldn’t agree more!

The artist’s get-to-know-me card reads:

I created these sparkly little gold filled and sterling silver earrings just for you.  They’ve been cut from a gold filled and sterling silver sheet, sanded smooth and given a satin finish.  They hang on my handmade gold-filled earwires.  My sincerest wish is that they will make you smile every time you wear them.

Rose Soap & Grapefruit Lip Balm

December brought one of our favorite soap makers back (Piccolo Paradiso!), to send out her fantastic new fragrance of soap—Principessa, a delicate rose and exotic fruit blend.  Along with it came a bonus surprise gift—grapefruit lip balm!

The two scents—both of the handmade rose soap and of the grapefruit lip balm, were absolutely divine. The soap was the perfect item to place on a soap dish for an elegant lady.  The scent has a touch of vintage that sends our imaginations to a Victorian home with every waft of rose!

The gift packaging was also adorable, with little buttons and a “hand crafted for you” sticker.  Even the product labels felt so organic and lovely!

Handmade gold and silver rings necklace

The handmade jewelry surprise that was sent to our surprise gift boxes subscribers in November was a bit unique in that it contained both gold and silver!  This handmade gold and silver rings necklace was created specifically for Fair Ivy by Silver Vine Boutique, and was mailed out with care as one of our monthly gift boxes for women!

We loved its dainty size, as well as the lovely, bright contrast between the gold and silver textured rings.  The handmade necklace came in an adorable little envelope, and included an information card about the artist who crafted it.

The artist card reads:
“Welcome to Silver Vine Boutique!  We specialize in providing unique, handcrafted and vintage items for you and your home.  Our jewelry designer Jen has been crafting and selling her creations for over 10 years.  A talented artist, she also paints, hammers and stamps goods for the home and garden.  We hope you enjoy your treasure!”

I actually loved this necklace so much that it made it onto my neck on Christmas Day.  It is just the right combination of elegant, simple, and classy.  I got a lot of compliments!

Orange clove soap surprise

This November brought a lovely handmade orange clove soap surprise to our monthly gift box subscribers. This all-natural cold process soap was made by Emerson Soap Co in the lovely state of Colorado.

We loved her branding, which gave a really eco-friendly vibe.  The label itself was made out of seed paper—so you can just pull it off, plant it in the ground, water it and have some surprise plants!

But our favorite part of her packaging may have been her creative gift wrapping…check it out below!

How great is this gift wrapping?  Her orange clove soap snuggled nicely in the egg carton soap box, was wrapped with a lovely piece of fabric, tied with twine, and embellished with a pine spring and a Made in Colorado wooden hangtag.

Ocean handmade stationery set surprise

November for our monthly gift box subscribers brought this ocean-themed handmade stationery set that was custom-created just for Fair Ivy. How cool is that?

Created by handmade artist Nicole Ray of Sloe Gin Fizz, this set of 4 blank notecards are a perfect way to send a lovely little note to someone you care about.

We really loved the nautical-themed creative gift packaging that the ocean handmade stationery set came in.  Not only was the wrap-around paper of a sea wave design, but the “Handmade for you” hangtag was hand-drawn with an anchor on it!

Sloe Gin Fizz’ unique, playful artist info card reads:

“Nicole Ray is an artist and illustrator based in southeast Michigan.  She graduated from the School of Visual Arts in New York and Trinity College in Connecticut.
