We love handmade soap, and especially love it when it comes all wrapped up in an adorable, clean-feeling way! This fresh strawberry soap was handmade by Mickey of Fabled Soap Co, and mailed to the subscribers of our Fair Ivy monthly surprise boxes.
These photos don’t do the smell of this fresh strawberry soap justice. It was delicious enough to want to drink it up in a smoothie!
The handmade passionfruit rose lip balm smelled just like a rose garden in the spring—and felt absolutely amazing as a lip product.
We also really liked the way these handmade surprise gifts were packaged. We always love using kraft paper as a gift wrapping base, and in this instance Fabled Soap Co went with some adorable washi tape for a cute, fresh look (and it also meant she didn’t need to use any regular tape!).
About our artist, Mickey Cho from Fabled Soap Co:
After years of unsuccessfully searching for detergent-free washes and soaps, Mickey discovered she could make them herself. So, it became her mission to create the best body products with the highest quality ingredients she could find — and Fabled Soap Co. came to be.

We absolutely love tea time here at Fair Ivy—and what is tea time without a lovely tea towel?
In August, one of our monthly surprise gift boxes was this fantastic honey bee tea towel from Pickering Linen Co. It is made from organic cotton and features a honey-colored honeycomb pattern stamped by hand.
Pickering Linen Co is a new Fair Ivy hand-maker, and we think they did a fantastic job. We even loved their information card, which introduced our surprise subscribers to their business:
We don’t have a photo of their surprise gift packaging, but it was very creative and even incorporated recycled scrap paper!
As it turns out, we end up featuring about 2 handmade tea towels a year—if you’d like to email us to get a general gist of when the next one will be appearing, just drop us an email and we’ll give you a little bit of a hint!

We love elegant, classic handmade jewelry pieces, and the handmade sterling silver dot earrings from our surprise monthly gift boxes in August 2013 kept with that vibe.
This elegant handmade sterling silver dot earrings set was handmade by Virginia Wynne, a Louisiana native and graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. They were custom-created for Fair Ivy—she had a similar pair of earrings that were a larger size—and here at Fair Ivy we tend to lean more towards slightly smaller earring sets.
I loved the texture on the front of the earrings—a brushed matte effect. I’m starting to realize that my favorite handmade jewelry style is either hammered or brushed gold or silver. So these really fit the bill!
She included an artist information card with these lovely handmade sterling silver earrings, as seen below:
